چکیده
This study provides insights on the formation of crystalline phases from Fe-rich slag-based porous inorganic polymers (porous IPs), cured under hydrothermal conditions. The IPs were synthesised using synthetic slags with different chemistries (from FeO-SiO 2 -CaO to -Al O 3 systems) as solid precursors, and a sodium silicate-based alkaline activator. Chemical expansion was used create structure. After hardening, monoliths hydrothermally processed at temperatures respective steam pressures (150 °C, 4.8 bar; 200 15.5 bar 250 39.7 bar) for durations (12–18 h). presence aluminium promoted zeolite analcime within first 12 h. calcium-silicate hydrates after longer curing duration; however, just had taken place. Thermodynamics of water confined in porous calcium-silicate-hydrates.
Water within pores of cementitious materials plays a crucial role in the damage processes of cement pastes, particularly in the binding material comprising calcium-silicate-hydrates (C-S-H). Here, we employed Grand Canonical Monte Carlo simulations to investigate the properties of water confined at ambient temperature within and between C-S-H nanoparticles or "grains" as a function of the relat...
متن کاملNanostructure of calcium silicate hydrates in cements.
Calcium silicate hydrate (CSH) is the major volume phase in the matrix of Portland cement concrete. Total x-ray scattering measurements with synchrotron x rays on synthetic CSH(I) shows nanocrystalline ordering with a particle diameter of 3.5(5) nm, similar to a size-broadened 1.1 nm tobermorite crystal structure. The CSH component in hydrated tricalcium silicate is found to be similar to CSH(I...
متن کاملHydration water and microstructure in calcium silicate and aluminate hydrates
Understanding the state of the hydration water and the microstructure development in a cement paste is likely to be the key for the improvement of its ultimate strength and durability. In order to distinguish and characterize the reacted and unreacted water, the single-particle dynamics of water molecules in hydrated calcium silicates (C3S, C2S) and aluminates (C3A, C4AF) were studied by quasi-...
متن کاملPreparation of Porous and Dense Bulk Samples in Calcium Magnesium Silicate Systems using Steel Slag and Different Additive by Conventional Sintering Method (TECHNICAL NOTE)
In order to obtain the bulk brick like samples, the mixture of steel slag, and sintering aid additive (like dolomite, glass, perlite, borax and phosphate sodium) were sintered at 1100°C for 2 minute. The flat and bloated surface appearances were obtained. The bulk densities of final sintered composites were from 1.3 to 2.41 g/cm3 and total porosities were from 15 to 40%. The bending strengths v...
متن کاملEvidence on the Dual Nature of Aluminum in the Calcium-Silicate-Hydrates Based on Atomistic Simulations
Hydration of tri-calcium silicate (C3S) and di-calcium silicate (C2S) precipitates calcium-silicate-hydrate (CSH) which is the bonding phase responsible for the strength of cementitious materials. Substitution of part of C3S and C2S with aluminumcontaining additives alters the chemical composition of hydration products by precipitating calcium-aluminate-silicatehydrate (CASH). Incorporation of ...
